Raccoon thief identified!
Kathy Erdmann reports that a "huge" raccoon has been spotted tearing down their hummingbird feeders. Where there is one there is probably many so if you are missing bird feeders its probably a little creature with cute eyes that is having a good time.....so enjoy the view. If its get to be a major problem contact the Urban Wildlife Company in your Canyon Rim Book. Whatever you do, its smart to make sure that your chimneys have animal proof covers and that any openings in basements, etc are covered.
We had a raccoon family that took up residence in the fireplace at our home in Murray and it was expensive and a bugger to get rid of the "cute" little things...
If you don't have a book contact me or Kathleen Utley.

The Mighty Bridge Crew Strikes Again
Pictures by Andy and Kellie Vanderveur...both who worked their butts off. Andy even missed his 30th high school reunion...Kellie owes me big time for that!
The mighty bridge crew struck again....Thanks to "the crew", a new surface was place on the small bridge and emergency repairs were made to the big bridge..Cross your fingers and hope the big bridge holds until more permanant repairs or a new bridge can be completed..
Look at the group work..Andy and Kellie Vanderveur, Stephanie Weems, Sheila Gill ,Jake and Kathleen Garn, Don Johnston, Kathleen Utley, DelRie Gale, Mary Ann Andersen, Stephanie Moore, and not shown, Bob North , John Forster and Virgil Merrill.
Everyone who worked were invited to the Gill's for ribs and such.. Look what you missed if you did not attend!
Now the fun begins..its up to all of us to make sure loads crossing the bridge are no more than 10 cu. yards..talk to your suppliers and make sure contractors know that they (you) may be responsible for any future damage.. Remember state law requires all trucks carry no more than 16,000 lbs per wheel...

Building bridges
Great work everyone. The work party on the 2nd was a big success!! We still need worker bees this Saturday, June 16 to finish the top deck on the small bridge. Any help will be much appreciated..gals too as they typically outwork most of the guys.. Free beer to the helpers that want one...Sheila is going to be the gopher to keep us all in drinks...The good times keep on coming!

Be not so chipper
Summit County has notified Canyon Rim that they have changed their policy and will no longer allow non-employees to participate in the chipping process. Dang it, I was going to dedicate 8 full hours to the fun!!!!!
That means the chipping party, where we were going to meet at 9:00 am in the parking lot has been cancelled. Summit County is going to arrange to chip the wood we have dragged down to the road sometime in June. They will try to schedule a second date in August or Sept. That means that we still should continue the process of piling dead wood, neatly mind you, butt end down hill throughout the summer. Make all of your friends and relatives happy this weekend. Instead of chipping, send them out to gather deadwood. P. S. its the woods butt end that should be pointed down hill!

Be Chipper
For all of you who have dragged wood to the road, be there to help with the chipping if at all possible...its this Saturday, May 26th. We start in the winter parking lot at 9:00 am and have the chipper till about 3:00 pm. You don't have to stay the entire time, unless you are as tough as the ladies that did most of the work last year. Those gals were Kathleen Garn and her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Utley and Sheila Gill with a weak assist from me and a few more from the weaker sex. Just give us a few hours..its necessary and will be appreciated.

Bridge broken through again
Once again, a large truck has broken through the small bridge making transporting trucks with gravel and heavy equipment a dicey proposition. The earlist we can fix the bridge is at the work party on June 2. Please use good judgement in dealing with contractors and others. You will be responsible for further damage. Down the road, we need to think about replacing the entire bridge with a heavy duty concrete bridge. Get your checkbooks out as we don't have the money to replace the bridge.........not a pleasant thought.

Upper Weber Canyon Meeting
It was real snoozer for most of the night. The Summit County Fire Warden dropped the bomb when he indicated that the new Section 65 of the Utah Code would be enforced beginning this year. It may require sprinkler systems and apparently will require on-site storage of 5000 gallons. Existing cabins are exempted by the regulation......Glad mine is built...tough regulations for the new builders...

ROAD INFORMATION
FOR ALL OF YOU WHO WANT TO KNOW THE ROAD IS APPARENTLY DRY ABOUT HALF WAY UP THE HILL. WE PLAN ON KEEPING THE ROAD CLOSED FOR A WHILE YET AS KNOW THAT IT WILL RECEIVE DAMAGE. WE ALSO WANT TO BUILD UP WATER SUPPLIES AND CLEAN OUT THE NEW TANK.
